Vets

There is always at least one veterinary surgeon in attendance at every GBGB racecourse.

Their role is to check each greyhound before and after they race, monitor disease control and administer emergency care in the event that this becomes necessary.

Applying for a Vet Licence

In addition to their membership of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, these vets must be licensed directly with GBGB.

Currently, vets must apply for a licence attached to the track that they are employed by. For vets working across more than one track, multiple licences will be required.

If you are a qualified vet and want to become licensed for a GBGB racecourse, you will need to complete a Veterinary Surgeon Application.

This must be countersigned by the Racing Manager at the relevant racecourse.
